5TH GRADE BAND PROGRAM
Welcome to the 5th Grade Band Program, we are excited to begin the year! Band is made up of students just like yours. Most of them have never played a band instrument before and may have little or no music reading skills. Many see band as a class on learning to play an instrument, but we know it is much more than that. It is the development of a family of friends that will last a lifetime. It is also the establishment of some rather profound environmental influences which will determine much of your child's success in all aspects of education, not just band.
The band instruments 5th Grade Band students have the opportunity to learn to play are flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and/or percussion.
One of the most positive experiences you can offer your child is the chance to learn self-discipline at an advanced level through participation in band. Their social skills, communication skills, self-concepts, cooperative talents and creative mind will all be nurtured through their study of music. These life-skills will serve as an important foundation as they take on various responsibilities in their future. Plus, band students just have a lot of fun!
C.A. Music House has informed me that instruments will be delivered to me on Wednesday, October 4th. With this being said, we will begin band on Thursday and Friday. Please view the weekly schedule below for each Elementary. Glen Dale & Hilltop will begin Thursday & Sand Hill & Center McMechen will begin Friday.

Glen Dale 5th Grade Band will meet every Monday from 9:00-9:30am and every Thursday 8:00-8:30am.
